2.89 Promille: Drunk Driver with No Licence Caught Behind the Wheel in Chernihiv During Curfew

Overnight on Sobornist Street, patrol officers stopped a 54-year-old man driving with a blood alcohol level 14 times above the legal limit and no driving licence.

During the overnight curfew, patrol police officers in Chernihiv spotted a VAZ-2107 travelling along Sobornist Street. After pulling the vehicle over, inspectors found the 54-year-old driver showing clear signs of intoxication. The man agreed to take a roadside breath test using a Drager breathalyser. The result came back at 2.89 promille — more than 14 times the permitted limit. Officers also established that the man held no valid driving licence. Administrative charges were filed against the driver under Article 130 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences (driving while intoxicated) and Article 126 (driving without the right to operate a vehicle). The man was removed from the wheel, and his car was towed to an impound lot.
