Late last night, during the active curfew, Chernihiv patrol police officers noticed a Mazda CX-5 travelling on Kozatska Street with its low-beam headlights switched off. When they pulled the vehicle over, it became clear that the driver — a 20-year-old man — showed obvious signs of alcohol intoxication. The driver agreed to an on-the-spot check using a Dräger breathalyser. The result came back at 1.61 per mille, far above the legal limit. A document check then revealed that the man had never obtained a driving licence and therefore had no legal right to operate a motor vehicle. Officers drew up administrative violation reports against the driver and removed him from behind the wheel. Police remind the public that driving under the influence poses a serious danger to the driver as well as to all other road users.
