Over 15 Times the Legal Limit: Chernihiv Patrol Officers Detain Drunk Land Rover Driver

Chernihiv patrol police stopped a 43-year-old driver on Honcha Street with a blood alcohol level of 3.05 per mille — more than 15 times Ukraine's legal limit. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot.

Yesterday, at around 6 p.m., while on patrol on Honcha Street, Chernihiv police officers pulled over a Land Rover for a traffic violation. The driver — a 43-year-old local resident — showed visible signs of alcohol intoxication. The man agreed to an on-site breathalyser test using a Drager device. The result came back at 3.05 per mille, more than 15 times Ukraine's legal limit of 0.2 per mille. Officers drew up a report against the driver under Article 130 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences — "Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated." The man was removed from the driver's seat, and the Land Rover was towed to a designated impound facility. Police remind the public that alcohol and driving is a dangerous combination.
