Chernihiv patrol police and emergency medical service personnel conducted a joint preventive operation to check whether drivers are complying with traffic rules requiring them to yield to emergency vehicles. Ambulances and patrol cars drove through city streets with their lights and sirens activated, simulating real emergency response conditions. Inspectors monitored driver behaviour and noted how readily motorists cleared the way. Drivers who failed to meet the requirements of the traffic code were stopped for explanatory conversations. Officers stressed that every second of delay can be decisive for a person in need of urgent medical assistance. The aim of the exercise was to raise road culture and remind Chernihiv motorists that letting an ambulance or police car pass through can directly improve someone's chances of survival.
