At around 7 p.m. yesterday, a call came in to the emergency line 102 reporting a traffic collision on Liotna Street in Chernihiv. According to the caller, an unidentified vehicle had struck her Mitsubishi and the driver had immediately left the scene, heading in the direction of Kursanta Yeskova Street. A patrol police unit responded at once. While en route, the officers received a report of a second accident — this time on Kursanta Yeskova Street. It turned out that the same Nissan X-Trail had collided with an Ataman vehicle and once again driven away from the scene. Police located the 48-year-old driver of the Nissan X-Trail near the site of the first collision on Liotna Street. The man did not deny his involvement in either incident. Officers noted visible signs of alcohol intoxication during their interaction with him; however, the driver flatly refused to undergo a medical examination as required by law. Administrative violation reports have been drawn up against him.
