Since the start of 2026, more than 2,280 girls aged 12 to 13 have been vaccinated against human papillomavirus (HPV) in Chernihiv Oblast. The immunisations are provided free of charge following an update to Ukraine's National Preventive Immunisation Schedule that came into force this year. The next step in the state cancer-prevention programme may be extending HPV vaccination to boys as well. According to Ukrainian Radio Chernihiv, there are plans to include boys in the national programme, which would make the vaccine free for that group too.
