Another telephone fraud case has been recorded in Chernihiv Oblast: criminals impersonating bank employees stole nearly 45,000 hryvnias from a local woman. The fraudsters repeatedly called the victim, introducing themselves as bank staff, and used various pretexts to extract confidential payment card details. Once they had access to her accounts, they carried out unauthorised transfers of her money. Police are urging residents of Chernihiv and Chernihiv Oblast to follow basic security rules: never share card numbers, CVV codes, PIN codes, or one-time SMS passwords with anyone over the phone. Genuine bank employees will never ask for such information by telephone. If you receive a suspicious call, end the conversation immediately and contact your bank's official hotline. If you or someone you know has fallen victim to fraudsters, contact the police by dialling 102.
