Preparations for the heating season in Chernihiv are proceeding on a broad front — from the technical readiness of heat supply networks to building up reserves and working through emergency response procedures, city hall announced. In recent days, anonymous Telegram channels have published posts creating the impression that the city is either not preparing for winter risks or is already experiencing problems with the heating season. Municipal authorities describe this as an attempt to pre-emptively generate a negative perception of the situation, stressing that while risks exist, active work to address them is ongoing — and that these are fundamentally different things. A dedicated area of preparation focuses on readiness for the most severe scenarios arising from the war. Russia has been systematically attacking Ukraine's critical infrastructure, and Chernihiv is no exception. For that reason, information about the condition and vulnerabilities of critical infrastructure cannot be made public on security grounds. Residents are urged to rely only on official sources and to avoid drawing premature conclusions from anonymous messages. The heating season has not yet begun, and preparations continue every day.
