Chernihiv driver runs red light, collides with Land Rover and knocks down traffic light pole

A woman driving a Nissan Leaf ignored a red signal and struck a Land Rover Discovery, sending her car into a pedestrian traffic light pole. No injuries were reported and a protocol was drawn up against the driver.

A road traffic accident caused by a traffic light violation occurred in Chernihiv. The driver of a Nissan Leaf proceeded through a red light and collided with a Land Rover Discovery. The impact left the Nissan out of control, and the vehicle struck the post of a pedestrian traffic light. Both cars and the road infrastructure sustained mechanical damage as a result of the crash. Fortunately, none of the parties involved were injured. Patrol police officers drew up a protocol against the Nissan driver under Article 124 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences, which covers violations of traffic rules that result in a road accident. Police remind drivers that obeying traffic signals is essential to the safety of both motorists and pedestrians, and that a few seconds of waiting at a stop line can prevent serious consequences.
