Drunk Tesla Driver Stopped in Chernihiv During Curfew Hours

Late at night on Myr Avenue, patrol officers pulled over a 26-year-old driver whose blood alcohol level measured 2.26 per mille — more than 11 times the legal limit.

During active curfew hours, Chernihiv patrol police stopped a Tesla on Myr Avenue late last night. When officers approached the 26-year-old driver, they noticed visible signs of intoxication and asked him to undergo a breathalyser test using a Drager device. The test returned a result of 2.26 per mille, exceeding the permitted limit by more than 11 times. Despite the reading, the driver refused to accept the result and flatly declined a medical examination at a healthcare facility. Officers drew up a report under Article 130 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences, which covers operating a vehicle while intoxicated. The man was removed from the wheel, and the car was handed over to a sober driver. Police remind the public that after consuming alcohol, alternative means of transport must be used. Responsible behaviour on the road is the foundation of safety for all road users.
