What aid is available to Chernihiv residents whose homes were damaged by Russian attacks

Residents of Chernihiv whose housing has been damaged or destroyed as a result of Russian attacks are entitled to several forms of state and international assistance.

Chernihiv residents whose homes have suffered damage due to Russia's armed aggression can apply for a number of support measures. First, owners of damaged or destroyed property have the right to submit an application through the state compensation programme "eVidnovlennia" via the Diia app. The programme provides cash payments to cover the repair or restoration of housing. Second, in order to have damage officially recorded, residents must contact local authorities or a damage assessment commission, which draws up a formal report. This document serves as the basis for receiving compensation. Third, residents may obtain humanitarian assistance from international organisations, including the UNHCR, the Red Cross, and other partner organisations operating in Chernihiv. To clarify the current list of available programmes and the application procedures, residents are advised to contact the Executive Committee of the Chernihiv City Council or call the city community's hotline.
