Yesterday, at around 7 a.m., patrol police officers on duty on Ripkinska Street in Chernihiv pulled over a Hyundai Tucson whose driver had failed to comply with a road sign requirement. While speaking with the 47-year-old man, the inspectors observed visible signs of alcohol intoxication. The driver agreed to undergo a medical examination by a narcologist in accordance with the procedure established by law. The examination returned a result of 2.22 promille — more than 11 times the permissible limit. Officers drew up a report against the offender under Article 130 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences (operating a vehicle while intoxicated) and a separate ruling under Article 122 of the same code (violation of road sign requirements). The man was removed from operating the vehicle, and the car was towed to a designated impound lot. Police are urging drivers to act responsibly behind the wheel and to observe traffic regulations.
