Two road accidents were recorded in Chernihiv yesterday within the space of one hour. The first occurred at around 4:00 p.m. on Peremohy Avenue. The driver of a BMW X1 failed to choose an appropriate speed and did not keep a safe following distance, causing her vehicle to collide with a Hyundai Accent travelling ahead of her. The parties involved settled the matter between themselves without calling the police. The second accident took place at around 5:00 p.m. on Kyivska Street. The driver of a Hyundai Accent failed to maintain a safe following distance and did not account for the condition of the road surface, rear-ending a BMW in front of him. Following a review of the incident, traffic inspectors issued the driver a report under Article 124 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences for violating traffic rules resulting in a road accident. Police are reminding drivers that road safety depends on choosing the correct speed, keeping a proper following distance, and assessing road surface conditions. Stay attentive behind the wheel and anticipate the traffic situation ahead.
