Yesterday evening, at around 8 p.m., patrol officers on duty along the M-01 highway (Kyiv – Chernihiv – Novi Yarylovychi) spotted a traffic violation committed by the driver of an Opel Vectra near the village of Kulykivka. The officers signalled the driver to pull over, but the woman ignored the command and drove on. Police gave chase and soon managed to stop the vehicle. Behind the wheel was a 40-year-old local resident who showed visible signs of alcohol intoxication. The woman agreed to an on-the-spot breath test using a Drager device, which returned a reading of 2.74 promille. A further check revealed that the woman holds no driving licence whatsoever. Officers removed her from the vehicle, suspended her from driving, and drew up administrative offence reports. Police remind the public that driving under the influence of alcohol and failing to comply with a lawful order to stop both carry administrative liability under Ukrainian law.
