Officers from the water police unit are conducting regular patrols along the Desna River and other waterways across Chernihiv Oblast. As summer heat draws growing numbers of people to the water, the risk of tragic incidents rises accordingly. According to police, the majority of such accidents could be avoided if people followed basic water safety rules. Residents of the region are urged to exercise caution when resting near bodies of water.
