Late yesterday evening, at around 11:00 p.m., police received a call on the emergency line reporting a traffic accident on Muzeina Street in Chernihiv. The driver of an Audi failed to maintain a safe speed, left the roadway, and struck a concrete support pole. After the initial impact, the vehicle continued moving out of control and collided with a second pole. Patrol officers who arrived at the scene observed clear signs of intoxication in the 30-year-old driver. The man agreed to take a breathalyzer test using a Drager device, which returned a result of 2.25 per mille — significantly above the legal limit. Two administrative citations were issued against the driver: one under Article 130 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, and one under Article 124 for violating traffic rules resulting in an accident. The driver was removed from the wheel and the vehicle was towed to an impound lot. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
