On Tuesday morning, during a patrol along Kiltseva Street, Chernihiv patrol officers pulled over a ZIL-MMZ truck for a traffic violation. The vehicle's cargo bed was loaded with timber. A document check revealed that the waybill presented by the driver was not registered in the electronic timber tracking database. Later that day, on Ivan Mazepa Street, officers stopped a GAZ-SAZ vehicle whose driver was also transporting timber. It turned out that the documents for that cargo were not registered in any of the relevant official registries. In both cases, an investigative and operational team was called to the scene to establish all the circumstances. Ukrainian law provides for criminal liability for the illegal felling, transportation, storage, or sale of timber.
