A balloon that entered Ukrainian airspace from Belarus yesterday has been identified as a relay station used to amplify signals for Russian drones, State Border Guard Service of Ukraine spokesman Andriy Demchenko announced. According to Demchenko, the device is employed to extend and strengthen the control signal of Russian aerial strike weapons during attacks on Ukraine. Demchenko added that no concentration of Russian troops has been recorded opposite Chernihiv Oblast at present. However, the State Border Guard Service does not rule out further provocations from the Belarusian side. The development is of direct concern to the security situation in the region, given Chernihiv Oblast's position along the border.
