Alexander Pyshchur, a product of the Chernihiv Desna football academy, will join Spanish club Girona in June 2025. The 18-year-old striker currently plays for the Ukrainian under-21 national team and Hungarian club Győr. Pyshchur launched his professional career in 2021 at the age of 15, when he featured for Munukach from Mukachevo in Ukraine's Second League. Even then, the player stood out for his exceptional height of 2.04 metres, making him one of the tallest footballers in the world. In an exclusive interview with Suspilne, Pyshchur spoke about the upcoming transfer to the Catalan club, the challenges and features of playing at such a height, the support of his father — also a footballer — and the role the Chernihiv football school played in shaping his career.
