At around 9 p.m., while patrolling highway R-56 (Chernihiv – Pakul – Slavutych checkpoint), police officers stopped a Jeep Compass because its left low-beam headlight was not functioning. During the roadside check, inspectors noticed visible signs of alcohol intoxication in the 35-year-old driver. The man agreed to undergo a medical examination, and a narcologist confirmed that he was intoxicated. Officers drew up administrative reports against the driver under two articles of Ukraine's Code of Administrative Offences: — Article 130 – operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol; — Article 121 – driving at night with defective external lighting. The man was removed from behind the wheel and the vehicle was towed to an impound lot. Police reminded the public that a driver's responsibility on the road concerns not only their own safety but that of all other road users.
