Yesterday at around 4:00 p.m., patrol officers on the M-01 highway (Kyiv – Chernihiv – Novi Yarylovychi) in the village of Ivanivka recorded an Opel Zafira travelling at 93 km/h in a zone with a lower posted limit. After officers signalled the vehicle to pull over, the driver suddenly accelerated and attempted to flee, disregarding the lawful order to stop. The inspectors gave chase and eventually brought the car to a halt. During the subsequent interaction, patrol officers noticed visible signs consistent with drug intoxication. The 48-year-old man nonetheless flatly refused to undergo a medical examination at a healthcare facility. Authorities drew up administrative violation reports against the driver under three articles of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences: — Article 130 – operating a vehicle while intoxicated; — Article 122 – exceeding the speed limit by more than 20 km/h; — Article 122-2 – failure to comply with an order to stop. The man was removed from the wheel and prohibited from driving the vehicle.
